Matcha is having a moment and this waffle recipe is a great way to incorporate the green powder into your diet. Not only it is absolutely delicious but it is also a different and fun way to start your weekend.


We love this recipe because it contains the best ingredients for the perfect breakfast - fruit, waffles, and matcha powder! It is sweet, fruity, and comes together in less than 10 minutes. This fruit stuffed matcha waffle recipe pairs well with coffee, black tea, or even a mimosa for brunch!


If you are on the hunt for a non-traditional and interesting way to surprise your loved ones at home on a Saturday morning, this recipe is the perfect way. You can stick to the recipe below or use your own version of it. Substitute the matcha for the electric spirulina powder or use any fruit you have at home. There is really no wrong way to make these fresh and delicious waffles!


Thanks to the Wonderffle waffle maker, this recipe is extra special since it combines the entire meal in one large, crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside waffle that will be enough for the whole morning! What a great way to start the weekend!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp matcha powder 

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp baking powder 

  • ½ tsp salt 

  • 1 ¾ cups milk 

  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil 

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 

  • ½ cup strawberries 

  • ¼ cup sugar 

  • 2 tbsp water

Directions

  1. In a small sauce pan combine the strawberries, sugar and water over medium heat. Stir to combine until the sugar is dissolved and the strawberries are softened and release their juices.

  2. Remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Don’t overmix, some lumps in the batter are okay.

  6. Heat The Stuffed Waffle Iron to medium heat and brush with a little olive oil. Pour ⅓  cup of the batter into the bottom waffle pan to cover the waffle grids.

  7. Add some of the strawberry filling.

  8. Cover with more waffle batter to fill to the rim of the bottom pan. Close The Stuffed Waffle Iron and flip. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for 6 minutes on each side.
